The Feijoa is native to South America. In New Zealand they are grown primarily in the North Island. There are many varieties available. When ripe the flesh has a jellied centre, sweet and aromatic. Seasonal fruit - between April and June.
They can be eaten on their own, bottled or used in cooking for jam or chutney, cakes, muffins, fruit pies and crumbles.
